MODEL UNITED NATIONS

TOPIC: SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

I. - Explanation of Sustainable Development.

Sustainable development is a comprehensive process that requires different actors of society commitments and responsibilities in the application of the economic, political, environmental and social as well as in consumption patterns that determine the quality of life.
Sustainable development policies affect three areas: economic, environmental and social. In support of this, several United Nations texts refer to the three components of sustainable development, which are economic development, social development and penetration of the environment, as interdependent and mutually reinforcing each other. "

II. - Sustainable Development in the State of Durango.

The relationship between the way it has evolved economic and social development of the state and its natural resources, ecological and environmental issues, indicates that the fundamental problem of the organization lies primarily in achieving economic and social development that allows sustainable development as largely environmental issues in the State is the result of the use of natural resources, mainly for the exploitation of natural capital with little or no investment in its development as well as the inefficient use of processes themselves. The first case has generated processes of water depletion, deforestation, desertification, land degradation and reduction of natural capital in general, which eventually largely supports economic growth and social development of the state.

III. - Proposed solutions to the problem.

1.- Require fundamental changes in economic, social and political.

2.- To promote the efficiency of primary production systems (agriculture, livestock, forestry, and ultimately the production of environmental services) and secondary (industries that give added value to primary products).

3 .- Require the introduction of capital and technology to reduce the imbalances between the productive sectors, increase the supply of jobs, improve the income of the population and reduce the negative environmental consequences of development.

4.- And finally it takes care of the water making good use of it so it has not exhausted itself.
